What do the figures mean?
Calorific value is the heat one kilogram gives, in kilocalories. Moisture is the water left in the pellets. Ash is what stays behind after burning.
Rice husk, mustard husk, groundnut shell and wheat straw pellets, each with its figures below. Burn a sample in your own boiler, and we will call you with a price.

Typical figures for each pellet. A batch can differ a little.

Pressed from the husk milled off rice.

Pressed from what is left once mustard seed is threshed.

Pressed from groundnut shells.

Pressed from the straw left once wheat is threshed.
| Fuel | Calorific value | Coal of the same heat | Ash |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rice husk pellets | 3,400 kcal/kg | Grade G14 | 12% |
| Mustard husk pellets | 3,900 kcal/kg | Grade G12 | 4.5% |
| Groundnut shell pellets | 4,000 kcal/kg | Grade G12 | 4% |
| Wheat straw pellets | 3,600 kcal/kg | Grade G13 | 8% |
| Coal mined in India | 2,201 to over 7,000 kcal/kg | Grades G17 to G1 | 35% to 45% for most |
Fill in the three figures to compare.
This compares heat alone; how well a boiler burns each fuel also counts.
Boilers and furnaces built for coal and firewood can run on pellets instead. Keep the pellets under cover: they take up water and crumble when wet.
What it burns now, and how much in a month.

Set the heat each kilogram gives against what you pay for it. The calculator above does this from your own prices.
